Accomplishments Update - August 20, 2004

Many positive things have occurred since the highly successful Arkansas River Trail Summer Flotilla on June 24th. Thank you to all who actively participated in planning, coordination, execution, and cleanup.

Congratulations to:

  • Pulaski County – awarding the construction contract for Murray Lock and Dam Pedestrian Bridge; completing trail construction in Two Rivers Park; completing studies for a pedestrian bridge across the Little Maumelle River into Two Rivers Park.

  • North Little Rock – bringing the Razorback submarine to Central Arkansas for the innovative new Inland Marine Museum; completing trail construction in Emerald Park.

  • City of Little Rock – $113,300 Trails for Life grant award; engineering and easement studies for Riverdale section of the Arkansas River Trail; selection as a national case study (Tourism Industry of America) for development of the Arkansas River Trail Medical Mile concept.

  • Arkansas Department of Health – Receiving a $900,000 cardiovascular grant; being the only state in the nation to receive a “B” in a national obesity control report card (No state received an A).

  • Heart Clinic Arkansas – $622,500 in commitments to fund Medical Mile construction.

  • Heifer Project International – Construction progress on the Heifer Project International headquarters

  • Pulaski County Cooperative Extension Agency - successful launch of the trail-side Diabetes Cooking School.

The mission of the Tributary Partnership of the Arkansas River Trail Project
is to build and promote a trail on both sides of the river to connect
neighborhoods, businesses and tourist attractions from the
Clinton Presidential Library to Pinnacle Mountain State Park.
