The
Arkansas River Trail is a great partnership among all
those who ought to be interested in recreational trails;
user groups, the various layers of government from the
feds to the cities, and the medical community. This
ought to be an example for the future, because it’s good
for all of us.”
Richard
Davies, Executive Director,
Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism |

"We
build roads because we have to move cars in commerce.
We build trails because we want to improve the quality
of life of our citizens."

"Encouraging
patient behavior modification is one of the more
challenging > roles of a health care provider. The
Medical Mile of the Arkansas River Trail will provide
the public with information that will support healthier
lifestyle choices and inform the individual on disease
prevention. Incorporated in a trail system that
demonstrates the beauty of our state, the Medical Mile
will offer a unique combination that supports health
education and physical activity."
Marcia
Atkinson, CEO of Heart Clinic Arkansas |

"The
Arkansas River Trail system is a great way for people to
experience and enjoy the spectacular natural areas in
central Arkansas. The Nature Conservancy of Arkansas
supports the river trail as a sublime and
fun transportation route as well as a way to protect
some of the natural resources of the region.
We appreciate all of the vision and accomplishments of
the the Headwaters Partnership and are honored to
participate."
Scott Simon,
Director, Arkansas Office, The Nature Conservancy |

Sure,
I’m personally interested in the River Trail, but I’m
particularly excited about what it will mean to central
Arkansas. It’s going to improve the health and attitude
of our residents, offer a fascinating recreational
option for our visitors, and contribute to the region’s
prosperity. In short, the River Trail will transform our
community.

Rice, Director of Tourism, Arkansas Dept. of Parks and

"It
simply makes good, common sense for the Arkansas
Department of Health to be in full support of the river
trail system. Physical inactivity--along with obesity
and smoking--is one of the greatest health threats
facing Arkansans now and in years to come. The river
trail system will help us address this issue and link
with the Healthy Arkansas Initiative by providing a
beautiful environment in which our citizens can improve
both they physical and mental health."
Dr. Fay
Boozman |

"Many
members of the Little Rock Roadrunners Club enjoy
running, walking, and biking on the River Trail on both
sides of the river. Also, several miles of the Little
Rock Marathon and other races are run on the trail. We
proudly support the Arkansas River Trail."
Paul Ward,
President, Little Rock Roadrunners Club
Attorney, Public Service Commission |

For us at
HEIFER INTERNATIONAL the Arkansas River Trail system
works very well into our LEED ( leadership in energy and
environmental design) objectives we are using in our
building project. Using LEED objectives we are looking
at the big picture for use of energy, ozone problems
associated with downtown Little Rock, community energy
usage, community involvement, taking pressure off of our
parking lot, providing alternatives for movement to and
from work, and last but not least, supporting healthy
practices for our employees.
All of
these concepts are important considerations for our
Arkansas River Trail project as well. From the HEIFER
INTERNATIONAL perspective we are happy to support this
community effort and plan on intensely promoting this
effort with all of our employees.
We
are happy to be a part of this community collaborative
effort.

"I've
lived in several different cities over the years. None
of those cities have an exercise trail system that
compares to the Arkansas River Trail. And, it's not
even finished! I can't wait until the River bridge is
built and the trail extends out to Maumelle, Mayflower
and Conway!

Brand Marketing Manager, KATV, Channel 7 |

“The
River Trail is one of the most scenic bicycle and
walking trails found in the country. Rarely will you
find a trail facility with extensive river views in the
heart of an urban area. The River Trail allows a place
to rest, play, exercise, and explore the nature of our
Natural State.”
Patrick
Hays, Mayor, North Little Rock |

"The
artistry of our landscape, the health of our citizens,
and the desire for innovative economic stimulus that
harmonizes with the environment have given us a mandate
for developing the Arkansas River Trail."
The
Honorable Jim Dailey, Mayor, City of Little Rock |

“We
moved to Arkansas in 1985. For us, this has been a
wonderful place to practice medicine and raise our
family. Our participation in this project is a way of
saying "Thank you," and represents an effort to give
back to the community by offering its citizens a safe
and accessible place to exercise and by encouraging a
more healthy lifestyle.”
Dr. Eleanor
Kennedy, Heart Clinic Arkansas |

"The
Arkansas River Trail immerses those traveling along its
route with a diversity of wildlife edge habitats.
Woodchucks (Groundhogs) to White Pelicans are often
sighted and provide an excellent mix of watchable
wildlife viewing opportunities. It is always a good
idea to take your binoculars and camera with you when
visiting the trail. Observing the natural world along
the trail is a great mental as well as a physical
relaxation experience."
Neil Curry,
Chief of Education and Outreach. Arkansas Game and Fish

“Little
Rock is on the verge of completing something
magnificent. The River Trail has brought the
communities of Central Arkansas closer together, it has
contributed to the economy and personal health of our
cities and it has become a destination for visitors from
surrounding States. What more could a community ask
for?”

Director, Little Rock Parks and Recreation |
