Funding and Donations

As with many large scale projects, public funding resources are limited. With increasing needs for education improvements in Arkansas and other community issues, finding dollars to complete the trail is a full time project.

Some members of the Headwaters Partnership have dedicated their participation to raising construction dollars. Heart Clinic Arkansas, for instance, has adopted a Medical Mile fund-raising project designed to encourage members of the medical community to provide private dollars for construction of a specific section. Information regarding the health benefits of trail use will be provided along the Medical Mile. *

Little Rock Parks and Recreation has also established a construction fund-raising campaign. Donors are encouraged to purchase trail by the foot in the city’s program.**

Some of the benefits of the Arkansas River Trail system can be determined by the variety of uses the completed project will provide residents and visitors of Central Arkansas.
